1925 African Wild Ass Trading Card FC1 Harry Horne Jelly Animals Like HASSAN

Description: This scarce card is one in a series of 70 cards issued in Canada by the Harry Horne Co. Limited Toronto Ontario. One was inserted into each package of NU-JELL Jelly Powder starting in 1925. The series is listed as FC1 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue and is entitled “Animals” . Each card features a color illustration of the animal being featured. These images are identical to the ones used by the American Tobacco Company in their T29 Animal Series. The back gives a brief description of the animal and states that there are 70 cards in the series. It also explains how you could collect the letters on the back to spell out NU-JELL THE PERFECT JELLY POWDER. And then send those cards in to exchange for prizes. This card features the WILD AFRICAN ASS The Card measures 3 1/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches approximately. The card has some corner and edge wear, and a lighter surface wrinkle to the back . I think it displays nicely. I have scanned the front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself. Due to the lower population in Canada than in the USA, print runs in Canada were much smaller compared with American Cards. Because of this the majority of all Canadian non sports cards are far scarcer than card issued in the USA & UK) .
