Description: These poor people likely had no idea what they were getting into. It took 103 ballots at the 1924 Democratic National Convention in New York City to come up with a presidential nominee, which was John W. Davis from West Virginia. It began on June 24, (the day of this ticket) and went on until July 9, making it the longest-running political convention in U.S. history. In other words, the national election against president Calvin Coolidge was all but over at that time, since the democrats were over-heated and exhausted, with the party fracturing apart from debating about things like Al Smith or the KKK. That event was even nicknamed "The Klanbake," it was so pitiful. Here's a 2 5/8" x 5" ticket from the very first day of the convention, for the 14th session and is one for a delegate allowing entrance onto the main floor. We're also listing a first day press ticket for the 11th session. This is in nice condition but the stubs are gone because it was used, so please enlarge our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with it. Remember this stuff's called ephemera, folks, because it was made to be used and then discarded. So we're just happy to have things like this - in any condition, to add to our collections. S & H on this will be $4.50 sent well-protected first class with tracking. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence, and we'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay says we won't. Just request a revised invoice from us before paying.
