1923 Pauline Fredericks Card V104 Willards Chocolates Silent Movies Printed Back

Description: This exceptionally scarce card is one in a series of 168 cards issued in Canada by the WILLARDS Chocolates Limited Company of Toronto. One was inserted into each package of Willard’s Bars of Chocolate during the year 1923. This series is listed in the American Card Catalgoue as V104. It should be noted that Burdick did not provide the Date of issue and it is speculation on my part, based upon the fact that the nearly identical Willards V100 baseball series was issued in 1923. The fronts of the cards feature a sepia image of the featured Actor or Actress with a facsimile signature. There are two different back variations for this series. One that is blank (similar to the V100 baseball series), and one that features advertising for Willards and mentions the number of cards n the series. This card features the actress Pauline Fredericks and has the Willards Advertising back variant The Card measures 2 inches by 3 ¼ inches approximately. The card does have some creasing and surface wear. I have scanned the front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself. THESE CARDS WERE NEVER ISSUED IN THE U.S.A.. and are scarce. Due to the lower population in Canada than in the US, print runs in Canada were much smaller compared with American Cards. (Because of this the majority of all Canadian non sports cards are far scarcer than cards issued in the USA).
