It is vintage book, which wad printed 103 years ago, but not late re-edition or modern reprint. Fine condition, clean book without marks, stains and dirts, in several places the spine cracked and crumbled, insignificant scuffs and dirts on the cover, traces of time (see pictures). A biographical sketch of the life of the Russian artist Viktor Elpidiforovich Borisov-Musatov, one of the leaders of the Moscow Association of Artists, member of the Union of Russian Artists, who developed his own painting style, combining a deeply individual reworking of the principles of plein air painting with decorativeism of the general solution to the painting (the so-called "decorative plein air") . The essay is accompanied by numerous reproductions and photographs of the artist's sketches on the stickers on separate sheets. The presented book opens with a photograph of the sculptural portrait of V.E. Borisov-Musatov by A.T. Matveev and includes 5 colored ones ("Hazel bush", "Requiem", "At the Pond", "Spring" and "Exhibition Catalog") and 17 black and white illustrations on 12 separate sheets. The catalog contains the artist’s works, performed by him in the period from 1886 to 1905, exhibited at the exhibition.
