Description: Here is an absolutely beautiful old commemorative medal made of bronze, in quite splendid condition overall, measuring app. 1 & 1/2" across. This very attractive state fund "dollar" from the 1915 exposition held in San Francisco shows basically no wear, with only some tiny imperfections barely noticed, and it has toned well over the years, with great color and full detail. I have not done anything to alter or enhance its appearance, with four of the photos having been "enhanced" for clarity, and this medal is listed in the Hibler-Kappen So-Called Dollar reference as HK-407. What I'll call the obverse depicts two of the state's favorite sons and songwriters, with their portraits named above in circular frames. "James Ryder Randall" is above, with "Francis Scott Key" beneath, and there is a wreath around the pair. "Maryland My Maryland" is around the top, with "Star-Spangled Banner" at the bottom. The other side features the state seal with a circle, a miniscule "M-C-P-P-I-Ex- 1915" at the bottom, and around all is "Maryland At Panama Pacific International Exposition", with the date "1915" at the bottom. Superb! $140.
