Description: This is a July 5, 1913 letter from the Ainslie-Martin Co. Hardware company of Lynchburg, Virginia, to a store in Mt. Gillead, North Carolina, answering their complaint that they had not received a keg of nails. The paper is an unusual yellow with the letterhead printed in green. It includes an owl perched on a crossed pick and shovel, the logo of Wide Awake Hardware Dealers. R.D. Martin, J.H. Kabler and Peter Ainslie were the store's officers. The letter's not personally signed, and the purple type makes it look like a copy. It was folded into 6 panels, and there's wear on the edges and some small stains.
