In 1899, in only his second career Test he scored 135 runs and then scored 300 not out against Sussex. Trumper played against England in 1899, 1902, 1905 and 1909.< In 1910/11 when South Africa visited Australia, Victor scored 662 in five Tests for an average of 94. He could score at will under any surface or weather conditions. Victor’s first-class batting over 255 matches scored 42 centuries, 87 half-centuries and totaled 16,939 runs. Victor Trumper was considered the greatest batsman of the Australian Golden Age and stood as the metric all batsmen were compared to until Sir Don Bradman came onto the field of play in the late 1920’s.
