Description: 1911 ERNEMANN Mirror Reflex Camera, Needs Lens and Back ERNEMANN mirror reflex camera. This camera type was introduced in 1907 and marketed till 1918. It featured a focal-plane shutter and a reflex finder; the operation of these two devices was coupled (releasing the mirror triggered the shutter).The present camera is marked at the bottom front 219 604 (made in 1911) and 61 (likely the production number for this particular camera type). The camera was initially offered in the formats 9x12cm and 8x10.5cm. The present camera has an opening in the back of 11x11cm, too large for 8x10.5, but tight for 9x12.Dimensions in inches: 7.6 (length) x 7.5 (width) x 7.8 (height). The camera has a maximum extension of 3.6 inches. The lens standard can be moved up by 1.4 inches. There is a water level on the front top. The revolving back is completely missing.The focal plane shutter allowed the user to set both slit width and shutter tension. It sported a spectacular 1/2500 sec setting (requiring a 1mm wide slit moving across in a 1/30 of a second). This figure was reduced in 1917 to a still respectable 1/1000 sec.The focal plane shutter lost its original straps. The shutter cloth is still there, and the mechanism seems to be working. For the fun of it, I connected the upper and lower curtain to create a fixed ~30mm wide slit. What is still there is in good condition. Leather covering is in good shape. Bellows is fine. All movements are smooth. Folding viewing hood in very good condition.The small carrying strap (looks too delicate to me) is in fragile shape and has been removed to keep it from being destroyed completely (it will be included).Buyer to pay actual USPS shipping cost (no handling fee).
