Description: Methods of Teaching by W W Charters, published 1909 by Row, Peterson & Company. Charters based his "functional" theory of instruction on the ideas of the progressive educator John Dewey. Charters maintained that the function of school subject matter was "to satisfy needs and solve problems" of society. This was Charters' first book. Hard cover, gold title lettering on front cover, faded on spine. Very good condition, sturdy binding, clean unmarked pages. The previous owner's name is written on front end paper. There are penciled noted covering half of back end paper. I will combine shipping on multiple purchases when possible.
