Description: For sale, an OLD (believe CIRCA 1908 era) and SCARCE TOKEN, HAVE SEEN SELL AS HIGH AS $350, GHOST TOWN token once used at business run by proprietor "C. W. HURD" (been told he ran a saloon) in the old GHOST TOWN of CHAFEY, NEVADA. (this is a beauty)THIS WAS A COMPETELY UNLISTED NEVADA GHOST TOWN TOKEN, UNTIL A FEW YEARS WHEN A COUPLE OF BOTTLE DIGGERS FOUND A SMALL GROUP OF THESE TOKENS IN THIS HISTORIC NEVADA GHOST TOWN....I BOUGHT THE REMAINING FEW THEY HAD LEFT.... AND THEY ORIGINALLY SOLD THEM FOR $350 EACH, BUT NOW HAVE A COUPLE LEFT SELLING THEM VERY REASONABLY TO GIVE THEM GOOD HOMES.... The site of CHAFEY is a complete GHOST TOWN today. Mining started in this region way back in 1862 (Civil War Era) when town originally called "Camp Dun Glen"..the camp died, but around 1908 a new silver strike was made..and the name of town was changed to CHAFEY NEVADA. This old ghost town is located in Pershing County Nevada...north of site of Mill City Nevada.....a few years ago, a little group of these tokens was found, i have a couple left to sell.This is a scarce old genuine Nevada token from a total ghost town. (those are all good things) There are only 3 merchants listed for this obscure mining camp. I track historic sales prices on Nevada tokens since 1990 era, and up until a couple years ago, this token WAS UNLISTED. But, a small group of these was recovered and now this token is listed in the Nevada token book. These have typically sold in the $350 range over the years since discovered, typically based on condition, There are very few tokens listed for this Nevada ghost town. The author has dropped the price in book, so have i This token is listed in the newest Nevada token book (Haddock) booking for $95 based on a previous ebay sale (actually...I sold the one comped in the book (and it was dug and ugly, this is much nicer)..when a small group of these was dug a few years ago, most sold in the 350 range)...I am trying to make the remaining couple of these affordable and in line with catalog, but once these are gone and absorbed into collections, they are gone forever....thats the way tokens go, they will not always be aroundThis is a ghost town token, from a TOUGH TOWN....
