Description: 1906 English Sterling Silver Barrel Style InkwellPresented is a nice sterling silver inkwell made in London in 1906. This piece is in a barrel sort of shape, with two bands of threaded design around the middle. The top has a small hinged lid with a glass insert for holding the ink. The piece has an old, original wooden base. The side is marked with the leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter l for the year 1906 and a maker’s mark, which is only partially visible. This piece is in fabulous overall condition. There is a crack in the middle of the wood base, but the piece is still structurally sound. I believe the sterling silver lid is a very good quality custom-made replacement of the original lid. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits to the silver, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs other than the lid. The inkwell measures 3 5/8 inches in diameter at the base and is 2 1/4 inches tall. Weight: 292 grams or 10.3 regular ounces Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
