Description: By: Arnold Hague Date: 1904 (Dated) New York Dimensions: 21.5 x 17.5 inches (54.5 x 44.5 cm) This is an antique, lithograph, geologic map of Yellowstone Lake. The map was drawn under the direction of Arnold Hague, based upon information obtained by Frank Tweedy in 1889. The map was published by Julius Bien $ Co. in New York for the U.S. Geological Survey in 1904. This attractive geologic map is centered on Yellowstone Lake, which is a primary attraction for eco-tourists in Yellowstone National Park and the largest freshwater lake in North America above 7,000 ft. Sedimentary and Igneous Rocks are identified by colored shading and patterns along the banks of Lake Yellowstone. The altitude and contours of the surrounding terrain is shown through the use of fine topographic lines that rise from the lake surface altitude of 7,741 ft. The continental divide is delineated in the lower left portion of the map. In this same corner, a set of notes is provided that provides insight into the glacial history of the lake. Condition: This map is in B+ condition, slightly toned with age and some chips to the paper along the margins. No loss to the image itself. If desired, this map can be linen-backed (a reversible preservation process) for an additional cost. Inventory #11901 1932 S. Halsted St. #200 Chicago, IL 60608 | P: (312) 496 - 3622
