Description: Covers and spine with minor wear at the edges. Some smudges to the cloth-covered boards. Deluxe fine-tooled “3/4” leather binding done by the firm of Bayntun, at Bath, England. Upon careful examination, the binding feels firm overall, but vintage leather bindings are often vulnerable along the joints/hinges, and the book should therefore be treated tenderly, particularly the front joint, which is typically the one more frequently flexed. The book should be handled with special care, and only opened as wide as is necessary to read. The boards were supported from beneath when the photographs of the interior were taken. Original wraps (paper covers) bound in. Includes the sometimes missing Samuel Morris plate near the beginning, and a handwritten 1890 membership list on two loose letter-size pages. No writing or written marks to the pages. There are a (very) few small random spots of unknown origin here and there, most noticeably on the title page. See photo. A small piece of the upper corner of the leaf comprising pages 299-300 was torn off, but remained attached to the preceding leaf 297/298 (presumably from the original owner’s imperfect or careless “opening” (separation) of leaf 297/298 and leaf 299/300). The little triangular corner piece has now been carefully removed from 297/298 and reattached to 299/300 using a tiny piece of pH-neutral archival tape. See final photo showing the little piece back in place. The top outside edge of the page-block is soiled by dust. A one of a kind copy, beautifully, elaborately, (& expensively) designed and bound. Please examine photos closely if interested, and feel free to ask a question. ——-——- As has been noted by others, this is much more of a work of Pennsylvania history than a study of fishing, per se. This is an updated record, to 1888, from the original 1830 edition, of what is asserted to be the oldest fishing society in the United States - not a history of fishing techniques or a collection of fishing stories. ——-——- An adult recipient at the eBay registered address will need to sign for the book at delivery. 30 days to return for any reason, and a full refund promptly given once the book has been received back and determined to be in the same condition as shipped / as shown. Thank you for your interest.
