Description: This rare, antigue book for children contains as many as half a dozen of the classical myths. Illustrated with numerous drawings by Church (1842–1924), a well-known illustrator of the time and especially known for his (often allegorical) depiction of animals. The 150 gold-edged pages all-around are printed on sturdy shiny paper. Bookplate belonging to Catherine Pelton inside front cover. Owner's name written neatly in ink on facing page, dayed December 1909. Condition: Cover with wear to all edges, corners and spine ends. Gold lettering and pegasus still visible on covers, but faded. Front hinges exposed but all pages firmy attached. Waterstain at bottom of a number of the pages and some foxing noticed here and there. Please review the attached photos. Size: 7.5" by 10.25".
