Up for sale is a nice antique Nineteenth Century hard back book from 1882 titled: PICTORIAL HISTORY of the WORLD'S GREATEST NATIONS Volume One by Charlotte M. Yonge. This book Volume covers GREEK HISTORY and ROMAN HISTORY and is prolifically illustrated. This is Volume One of a Five Volume Edition. I acquired this book from a private estate. I found it safely tucked away on a library bookshelf where it had been for decades. This book was gently handled over the years. CONDITION: This old book is complete and intact, in very good-plus condition. The covers and spine are decorated and embossed. The gold gilt lettering on the front cover and spine are in excellent condition. The covers are in very good condition with some age-expected corner wear. The inside covers are in very good condition with no cracking or separation present the front hinge. The back hinge has some cracking and separation present, the back board is pulling slightly from the binding (see photo). On the front inside cover there is a sticker present with the original owner's name and address that is dated 1890 and a signature of a second owner. The pages are in very good-plus to excellent condition, very nice, the pages are crisp. All pages are tight to the binding. I did not see any foxing on any pages. The spine is in very good-plus condition with very light shelf wear, the gold gilt lettering is easily read. This antique book comes from a smoke free home.
