Audubon Details: ORIGINAL 1856 hand-colored stone lithograph from 2nd Audubon octavo edition of Birds of America. Lithographed, printed and colored by J.T. Bowen of Philadelphia. The octavo editions were sold by subscription in folios containing five plates each. Number in upper right corner is the plate (Pl.) number (total plates in the octavo edition was 500). Number in the upper left corner is the folio (No.) number; all five plates in each individual folio will have the same folio number. Paper Size: 7” high by 10 ½” wide Condition: Condition is EXCELLENT – please note that the numbers 1 and 2 were originally printed in the margins outside the colored area of the print – they are not flaws. Original hand-coloring is clean with no fading. Text above and below print is clean and sharp. No visible flaws to print. There is a narrow strip of original binding residue at the very top of the page. This could easily be matted out for framing. Shipping: U.S. Postal, insured with tracking. Print will be shipped flat.
