1850s POST MISTRESS Print Engraving ~ SHE READS Mail & Gossips ~ Postal History

Description: ....... THE POST-MISTRESS is the title, on this original 1850s, STEEL ENGRAVING PRINT, that was a full-page bookplate, in Godey's Lady's Book from that time period. ...... My photos show the exact item that you are getting, and are a major part of my description. ~ "ENGRAVED BY T.B. WELCH EXPRESSLY FOR GODEY .... PAINTED BY H. RICHTER" are the credits below the image. ~ This full page (with margins) measures about 10" x 6-1/4", and the actual image is 6-1/2" x 5". This image appeared in Godeys to accompany a fictional story about a postmistress that was dismissed from her job for READING mail and GOSSIPING about it. ...... This original 1850s print would look nice, matted and framed behind glass. ~ It has some some degree of surface wear, foxing spots, overall page toning, left edge creasing, and a 1" right-edge tear (as shown in the pictures). ...... Shipping is Free in the USA. ~ Thanks for shopping, Doug.
