Bonsal. Binding is hand stitched. 34 pages. Nice flexible pages with some folds on corners and other antique wear, not bad. Book is complete. You can see the edge wear in the photos. There looks to be interesting "code" written in the "remarks" section of each month. Take the 7th month, for instance, you can read the message a word or two at a time as you go down the page. Some of the additional contents include: Ben Franklin's Moral Code such as: Temperance - eat not to fulness; drink not to elevation. Silence - Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversation... etc. Major Downing's office report on the United States Bank (written in minstrel-like wording) Standing Armies - "In whatever light we view the institutions of our country, we cannot but see the immense advantages she enjoys over all the world.
