Description: I have here for sale a RARE 2-volume set entitled THE GEOGRAPHICAL ENCYCLOPAEDIA; or a Statistical Survey of the World: comprising an Historical, Literary, Scientific, and Topographical View of Every People and Country at present known; in Accordance with all that is valuable in the writings of the celebrated Travellers and Navigators of Ancient and Modern Times. Amongst other interesting subjects is given a Complete Account of the late Voyages undertaken by His Majesty's Ships of Discovery, under the Command of Captain Parry. Written by C Mackenzie and published by J McGowan and Son, London in 1826. Vol I has 10 b/w plates (many showing more than one image) and 6 b/w maps; Vol II has 10 b/w plates and 18 maps, including Asia, Russia, Turkey etc.A Beautiful Set! Bound in full tree calf hardboards with a decorative gilt border. 4 gilt decorated raised bands, gilt lettering to the spines. Boards are in very good condition. Front board on Vol I is a little loose. Blue marbled endpapers. Very isolated foxing, the vast majority of pages are clean, and firm throughout.
