Tregortha, 1814, 14 pp, 421 pp, 8.5 x 5", 8vo. In poor condition. As is. Front board completely detached from binding. Rear board is attached by one piece of cording only - very fragile. Leather boards are generally soiled, with scuffed edges & worn/bumped corners. Both head and tail of spine lacking - binding exposed. Previous ownership signature found at head of front end-page. Off-setting exhibited on title page from frontispiece. Foxing, toning, and finger-soiling present throughout text-block. Some instances of age-stains. Binding is intact, but fragile. Please see photos. Rev. David Simpson (1745-1799) was an Anglican priest who spent most of his career in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. He was educated at Scorton Grammar School and then at St. John's College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a B.A. in 1769 and an M.A. in 1772. His theology was evangelical and this was to cause problems during his career. As an undergraduate he became a friend of Rowland Hill, and was also a close friend of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. FORN-MSB-1023-0760-HK796
