SEVEN DAYS OUT FROM HAVANA, ON JULY 31, 1715, THE ILL-FATED FLEET WAS STRUCK BY A POWERFUL HURRICANE WHICH SWEPT THROUGH THE BAHAMA CHANNEL, AND ALL ELEVEN SHIPS WERE LOST OFF THE EAST COAST OF FLORIDA. FEW OF THE CREW SURVIVED AND OVER 700 SOULS WERE SENT TO THE BOTTOM OF DAVY JONES' LOCKER.
