Description: I have here for sale a small book entitled THE WORKS OF VIRGIL or Opera Publius VIRGILIUS MARO NUNC EMENDATIOR, published by Elsevier, Amsterdam in 1664. It contains the works of Virgil - Bucolica Book I, Georgicon Books I-IV and the Aeneid Books I-XII, Culex, Ceiris, plus the Life of Virgil by Tiberius Claudius Donatus. There are several testimonials on Virgil's work by prominent writers at the back. Illustrated title page and tail piece at the end of the work.Very attractive binding. Full dark brown leather hardboards with gilt panelling and bordering with corner lozenges to both boards. 4 raised bands, gilt tooling, a maroon leather title label and gilt lettering to the spine. A few scuffs but really the boards are in very good condition for their age. Marbled endpapers and gilt page edges. Bookmark still present and pages are clean and firm. 359 pages, 12 cm x 6 cm.We have over 2000 items in our Ebay shop on a range of subjects, so please feel free to have a browse and see if anything else takes your fancy.
