Description: A POSTER FOR A 1991 EXHIBITION ON THE SUBJECT OF "VIEWS OF ROME" AT THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF IRELAND. POSTER MEASURES 20" X 29.5 , AND WAS PRINTED FOR THE EXHIBITION. CONDITION IS VERY GOOD WITH LIGHT AGE RELATED PAPER TONING AND LIGHT HANDLING/ROLLING CREASES. Light soiling marks on rear of poster EVEN FOR THIS EXHIBITION, THIS WAS A RARE POSTER IMAGE. FINDING A POSTER IMAGE IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE AS THIS WAS LIKELY ONLY UTILIZED IN THE MUSEUM ITSELF. - The left side of the image appears to have soiling spots but it does not. The soiling spots are part of the original artwork as the brown spots have the same lithographic pattern as the rest of the image. The prior owner owned a printing company that printed posters for museums in North America and in Europe. He was always sent an example of the work. While some of the posters were intended for sale, a large percentage were printed in small quantities and were intended only to be put up in different parts of the museum that was having the exhibition. Please use zoom function on all photos as I photographed each section individually to allow for close inspection. IMAGE: Jakob Philipp Hackert (1737-1807) The Colosseum with the Temple of Venus and Rome. pen and ink and watercolor, with traces of black chalk, on paper, laid down. Exhibition held at THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF IRELAND from April 10- June 2, 1991. this was a Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition.
