Description: 14” Vintage 1950 HP ALICE IN WONDERLAND Doll w/Margaret-Face "There seemed to be no use in waiting by the little door, so she went back to the table, half hoping she would find another key on it, or at any rate a book of rules for shutting people up like telescopes: this time she found a little bottle on it (“which certainly was not there before,” said Alice), and tied around the neck of the bottle was a paper label, with the words “DRINK ME” beautifully printed on it in large letters…However, this bottle was not marked “poison,” so Alice ventured to taste it, and finding it very nice (it had, in fact, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffy, and hot buttered toast), she very soon finished it off." – from pages 9 & 10 of Lewis Carroll’s ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, Random House Special Edition, 1946 This lovely and very well-preserved 14" Madame Alexander ALICE IN WONDERLAND with the Margaret face has stood the test of time. Her color is beautiful with no touching up. Her lashes are full and complete and her blue eyes are clear and un-crackled. Her hair is of blonde mohair and is in its original styling. She still remarkably has her original blue hair ribbon! Her dress is of a cornflower blue cotton fabric and was faded so badly that I removed all trim and re-dyed it, then sewed the original trim and collar back on. The iconic pinafore is of sheer white organdy with lace trim embellishments. Her petticoat, edged in eyelet lace is attached to the skirt of her dress. She wears her original pantaloons with pale pink bows, and a pale pink ribbon tie at the back. Her socks and shoes are in perfect mint condition. She will come holding her famous key and a White Rabbit necklace for a lucky grandchild. (The large White Rabbit in the main photo is a prop.) Madame made variations of ALICE with the Margaret, Maggie, and Wendy Ann faces, as well as the MaryAnn face and Alexander Kins. This ALICE will come to you packed with love and care.
