Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I have to clear some space on my shelves (and this kit covers a lot of shelf space!), so I need to reluctantly part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! HK Models has burst onto the modeling scene producing some exciting subjects in large scale. They range from US bombers like the B-25, B-17 and A-20 to the German Dornier Do 335 Pfeil to the British Mosquito, Lancaster and this Meteor. The Gloster Meteor was the first operational Allied jet aircraft and this F.4 is a post-war version of that pioneering fighter. HK Models has produced a world-class injection-molded Meteor with this state-of-the-art release. As a Limited Free Gift, they have included a 1/144 scale model kit version of the Gloster Meteor F.4 as a thank you! There are almost two dozen listings for this kit on eBay (mostly from distant overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web about this interesting kit: The HK Models website (hk-models.com) shows the cover art and ten CAD renderings of the aircraft showing details around the cockpit, wheel wells, wings and fuselage. They offer a link to download the complete 12-page instruction set and painting guide and even provide a brief history of the aircraft: The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter and the Allies' first operational jet aircraft. The Meteor's development was heavily reliant on its ground-breaking turbojet engines. Developed by Sir Frank Whittle and his company, Power Jets Ltd. Development of the aircraft began in 1940. The Meteor first flew in 1943 and commenced operations on 27 July 1944 with 616 Squadron of Royal Air Force (RAF). It proved to be a successful and effective combat fighter. The Meteor F.4 was the first of the type to be exported, and they served in the air forces of Argentina, Denmark, Egypt, Belgium and the Netherlands. Scalemates.com shows the stunning cover art and reports that this is a new mold from 2014. They provide a link to download the 10-page instruction set and a few links to many reviews, aftermarket parts, references and galleries of outstanding models. DetailScaleView posted a brief In-Box Review on the bilingual (English/Russian) detailscaleview.com site with just a handful of high-resolution photos of the parts. You can see the major sprues and the detail incorporated in the wings and fuselage parts. He liked the approach HK Models took on this kit of keeping the model basic and allowing modelers to add extreme detail though aftermarket parts if desired, saying: “Today's set is a great example of how large models can be simple and elaborate at the same time. You also won't find resin or etching here, but we all know how these bonuses affect the price.” They also have a 10-minute video version on YouTube, if you prefer it that way. Shar2 posted a short In-Box Review on the britmodeller.com forum site with a half-dozen high-resolution photos of the parts. After a detailed history of the Meteor, he describes the construction sequence and provides tips for your build as he goes. He points out the lack of engines in the kit and offers an aftermarket solution if you are interested. His Conclusion starts with: “Whilst the kit is a reasonable size, there aren’t that many parts, which would make this a pretty good kit for someone moving up to this scale”. The best look at the parts may come from MadDog on the German-language modellboard.net site in his In-Box Review. Over two dozen professional photos show the parts with their fine surface details and precise molding. The only opinions are expressed at the end and fall along the lines of: “the model or the sprues convinces with its excellent surface structure! All rows of rivets, many maintenance hatches, etc. are clearly recognizable and really make you want to build the model.” This kit is in a huge and colorfully illustrated box about 20.5” x 10.5” x 3.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in great shape and still sealed with tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains about 100 highly detailed grey and clear plastic parts and a sheet of decals to build this iconic British Jet Fighter with specially shaped metal nose weight. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time I am offering this huge item with $14 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
