Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! I built the Airfix 1/24 Spitfire and Bf 109 kits about 22 years ago. They were simple kits using technology from the 60s and 70s, which was when I made most of my models. The kit was just as I remembered from making Revell, Italeri and Monogram models. The large scale lends itself to older eyes and to some creative superdetailing. I found about a dozen listings for this kit on eBay (various releases), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this classic kit: The Airfix sites (uk.airfix.com com and hornbyhobbies.com) no longer have a listing for this kit. From other sources, I have found the following information about this iconic British fighter aircraft: The Hurricane was the RAF’s first monoplane fighter aircraft. This came about following the design work of the famous Sydney Camm at Hawker and by Rolls Royce in privately developing the Merlin Engine. The Hurricane occupied a vital place in Britain’s history. No one can deny the Spitfires excellence, yet the Hurricane was the mainstay of the RAF’s fighter force in the Battle of Britain. The Hurricane then went on to serve in all other theatres of War, arriving in some cases up to two years ahead of the Spitfire. Scalemates.com has a listing that shows the dramatic box art and tells us it is a 1990 release based on the classic 1973 tooling that has been the basis of 11 releases across the Airfix and MPC brands. They provide a link to download the complete 14-page instruction set and full-color painting guide. They also provide plenty of links to references, books and photo galleries of completed projects to help you with your build. Julien Dixon published a Build Review on the modelingmadness.com site that has a lengthy history of the Hurricane. He describes the construction sequence and points out areas to keep an eye on. He gives us over a half-dozen photos to show his outstanding results. His Conclusion starts with: “I have seen all of the main four Airfix 1/24 scale kits (Hurricane, Spitfire, Me-109 & Mustang), I would say that this is the best kit out of the four. Overall in my view the kit builds up into an impressive representation of this famous Aircraft.” Jon's Model Kit Review released a 12-minute In-Box Review Video on YouTube that walks through the instructions and build sequence. Despite the age of the kit, he was impressed with the tight fit of the parts and the lack of flash throughout. Toggling back and forth between instructions and plastic parts is a very effective way to show the high quality of the molding. He recommends a couple of aftermarket upgrades, but the kit still provides a great foundation for an amazing model. The kit is in a large, dramatically illustrated box about 27” x 12.5” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in perfect condition and is still sealed with the original shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains over 250 grey and clear plastic parts and a large sheet of amazing decals to create your very own large-scale Hawker Hurricane with a pilot figure and stand. It requires paint and cement to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid, and for a limited time, I am offering this large and bulky item with $16 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
