R. ARKLESS 10TH HUSSARS. Robert Arkless was born at St Mary's, Gateshead, Durham in October 1874 and enlisted in the 10th Hussars at Newcastle on 29 November 1892. Promoted to Corporal November 1897, however, he was charged by District Courts Martial for drunkenness and reduced to the ranks in February 1899. He served in South Africa from 6 November 1899-30 August 1902, being attached to the 6th Dragoons for a portion of his service. Having been in the Army Reserve, he was discharged on 28 November 1904; sold together with copied service record. Please view my other collector's items for sale.
