Description: Up for auction is a solid 10k white gold comfort fully backed star sapphire ring with diamond accents in very good condition. The stone is synthetic and is a great quality Linde which has a cursive L engraved on the back of the stone. The ring dates from the 80’s and was made in the Philippines. When tested with acid it held for a period then dissolved. Perplexed I took it to my Jeweler who Xray gun tested with a XRF spectrometer. The results were 9.74 just shy of 10 which explains the problem with the acid test. I did some research and found that this was an allowable amount to be called 10k for the period and from that country of origin. Possibly done to achieve solid white color rather than rhodium plating. The ring is stamped 10k and tested professionally .
